Anyone know how much they charge for a basic consultation? And do they carry anti-anxiety meds?

A basic consultation is 21 RMB, and they do carry anti-anxiety medication. Dr. Chee did a great job taking care of my friend when she had a major panic attack, and helped her manage her long-term anxiety.

It costs 20 yuan for the doctor visit. Most hospitals around here cost about half that but you are paying a bit extra for the nurse to accompany you and provide translation.

You will see the doctor and if he orders blood tests or any hospital tests or medicine, you would then go to the cashier and pay first before receiving it. You always have to pay first so you can never get stuck with a bill or not know how much something costs beforehand. They have medicine for everything here but it is difficult to find say American brand medicine... you might have to get a Chinese alternative.

International Clinic of Qingdao Municipal Hospital (ICQD):
Hi. Im moving to Qingdao in late August. I am now taking Isotretonoin Orifarm, but I am not sure if I will be finished with my dose before I have to leave Europe. It needs to be taken under supervision of a doctor, so my doctor will not prescribe the last month (August/Septemb er) of medicine. Is it possible to get this medicine at the hospital?

There are basically no prescription-on ly drugs in China. You can walk in to any drugstore and buy what you need (birth control, antibiotics, etc). The only problem you might have is getting the Chinese name of the drug you want. You can search for the drug name in Baidu, the Chinese search engine, and there will usually be a translation. If the drugstores don't have it you can try buying it in or another Chinese "eBay" type site.

Actually there are many prescription drugs in China. Many medicines require you to first see a doctor and then the drugs are only available at a hospital pharmacy with a doctor prescription. Many other drugs are also available at walk in pharmacies with no prescription.

Is there a mental section that can offer CBT for SAD patients, I've been in the program from back home but now I'm in Qingdao, will be here for quite a long time. So I'm looking for a hospital that has professionals who can handle my matter and who can as well speak good English, so I was wondering if that's the right place to visit.

I went to get a tetanus shot in September, but the hospital didn't have any. They called to every other hospital in the city, and nobody had the vaccine.

My husband needs to have a small growth removed above his eye and plastic surgery to repair the skin. Does the International Clinic of Qingdao Municipal Hospital provide this kind of service? Or, perhaps you can recommend another hospital that can do this.

The Municipal hospital is big and they probably also have an eye department with plastic surgeons.

There is also a specialized eye hospital down the road from the municipal hospital. I don't know the full address but it's about 400m away, on the junction of YanErDao Road and ZhuHai Road. Keep in mind that hospital probably won't have English speaking staff and maybe is more profit oriented.

Good luck! Hope it all goes well!

The Qingdao Municipal Hospital provides one of the best expat health services in the country. The staff are professional and caring and you would be impressed with the western doctor, but you must arrive there early before 9:00am to ensure an appointment. Very cost effective! Highly recommended!

I am a 65 year old American considering taking a job in Qingdao. What is the relative cost for medical treatment in Qingdao as compared to those expected in the United States? Also how does medical treatment quality compare to that in the united states?

International Clinic of Qingdao Municipal Hospital (ICQD):
Medical treatments?? do you mean the cost of medicine or the procedure, well its very cheap. The Blood Routine Examination cost you around 120 RMB, X-ray ranges from 80 RMB to 130 RMB, CT scan costs 300 RMB, and MRI costs 900RMB. The cost of medicine depends on the brand of the Company. Be careful of fake medications, generics with low quality! Some generic medications are very good quality and inexpensive, so one can easily be cheated if you buy in local shops. The medications used in hospital are authentic top quality and a bit more expensive.

International Clinic of Qingdao Municipal Hospital (ICQD):
Hello Terrance,I am not sure about the exact cost for treatment in Qingdao but I believe that in general it is rather cheap here. Simple things won't cost you a lot and also dental work is cheaper than abroad. The quality that I received from the international hospital and other doctors was good. The international clinic was the designated hospital during the Olympic Games, so a lot of money was spent to upgrade the facilities. Doctors and nurses can speak English. There should also be direct billing available so that your medical insurance can cover the cost in a more convenient way. And if you're a bit more adventurous or just have something small, then a Chinese doctor can take care of you for just a few RMB.
