Notes:
Gran Duque is Qingdao's only Spanish-style restaurant that offers a choice of different Mediterranean dishes, combining French, Spanish, Greek, and Italian flavors.  The manager, Qingdao native Ms. Lin spent 10 years in Barcelona, where she reportedly learned from local experts while working at several Spanish Restaurants.

The paella wasn't good. There wasn't a little bit of burnt rice in the bottom of the pan like the real Spanish paella; the gazpacho was greyish green color and it is supposed to be red. I guess the chef is not Spanish. The service so so (not rude but unfriendly) and the food was expensive.

Atmosphere - nice.
Waitresses - professional.
Food - Spanish food with "Chinese characteristics " - Not bad, but did not taste "authentic".

The place is nice and the waitresses are quite professional, but the food is simply awful. I'm Spanish and I can tell you that the food in this restaurant is not Spanish at all. The only typical dishes they have are paella and a few more, but the quality is not very good. The rest of the dishes are mainly Italian, such as pizza or pasta.

I am happy about any new restaurant option that we get here in Qingdao. I've been to this restaurant and it was okay. Nothing amazing but also nothing bad. The waitresses were a bit too fast and took the plates away just seconds after taking the last bite. But this place has regular discount coupons online (check places like www.tuan800.com in the Qingdao section) and that way a meal for 2 persons costs only around RMB 100. Hope it inspires more foreign restaurants to open up.
