The Shell, Qingdao Swimming & Diving Stadium, is located on the east end of Qingdao's new sports center complex opposite to the diamond shaped GuoXin Stadium (国信体育馆). The Swimming & Diving Stadium covers an area of 48,848 square meters, which can seat an audience of 3,072.

Competition areas include a swimming pool, diving pool, and warm-up pool as well as the splash pool which is specially designed for children. The Shell also has a roll-call hall for athletes, a drug testing lab, infirmary, and office space for the organizing committees and media.
